We had a chance to spend the night at the famous Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay this weekend. We booked our accomodation via the SM Prestige Discounted Promo for Taal Vista Hotel’s new East Wing. I think this New Wing is intended to accomodate live-in seminars and workshops since I noticed that they have several function rooms. Anyway, being a new building, the room we got are still clean and good enough for the discounted price of Php5,000.

The room has a king-size bed with two small single sofa/bed and the usual amenities such as free Cable TV, Cable Internet and Wi-Fi, and the usual stuff.

The package also comes with a two breakfast buffet for two. Nothing fancy on the food fare though, just your usual selection of breakfast fare.

Overall, it was a pretty good deal. If you have an SM Prestige Card, be sure to ask for their discounted rate on Taal Vista Hotel.

For more details, please check out Taal Vista Hotel’s official website.

It was a fine Sunday morning in Tagaytay City. We were planning to have lunch somewhere in the Tagaytay Summit Ridge but traffic was bad and we just passed by Tagaytay Rotonda. It was a quick decision to finally try out Pamana Restaurant which is located right along the Tagaytay Road. There were two cars parked infront of the restaurant so we decided to have lunch there. And glad we did.

You’d love the very “homey” ambiance of Pamana Restaurant. It’s like an old house converted into a 3 storey dining place overlooking Taal Lake. Pamana Restaurant authentic Filipino dishes given some extra-ordinary twist.

We ordered the following:

Sinigang na Hipon sa Sampalok

Pinaputok na Tilapia:

Tofu Sisig:

Lumpiang Ubod

and my daughter’s favorite, Adobo Rice.

If you’re on your way to Tagaytay, you’d probably seen a sign-post that says “This way to Chateau Hestia.” If you follow the sign and take that route, you’ll end up at this quaint garden restaurant called, well Chateau Hestia.

Here’s what I found from Chateau Hestia’s official website:

In Chateau Hestia, we just do not give you a restaurant but we also give you a feeling that you are in your own home. In this half a hectare property surrounded with lush greens, you can enjoy and entertain your own guests with our authentic European cuisine in a country-style but elegant setting.

Johannes Zehethofer, a native of Vienna, Austria, brings to the Filipinos this unique European experience. It started with his travels all-over the world, his fondness to entertain his friends, his love for wine and good food — the result was a love affair!

If you go there, be sure to order this Salad:

And the Margherita Pizza.

While waiting for your food, you’d be served with this breads together with an eggplant paste for dip. You’ll love it.

The staff and owner of the restaurant are both friendly and accomodating, you’d feel right at home.

Spent last weekend at the Beach Club of Peninsula De Punta Fuego located in Nasugbu, Batangas. This is around 10 kms away from Canyon Cove. Peninsula De Punta Fuego is an exclusive 88-hectare flame-shaped peninsula which according to their site is envisioned to be a world-class residential beach resort.

The place is huge, beautifully designed and you would feel like you’re in a different country while you are there. Anyway, we stayed at one of their Casitas which is on the seaside of the club. Just below us you can hear the raging sea waves. It feels great to be sleeping with only the sound of the sea waves putting you to sleep.

Peninsula De Punta Fuego has several swimming pools and beaches in different location inside the property. Butthe best spot is located in what they call as the long beach. Although not as good as the beach in Laiya, the good thing about this beach is that very few people go there to swim. So, you’d feel like you’re in your own beach resort. The main club’s swimming pool is also great since it’s an infinity pool overlooking the Hamilo Coastline.

Overall, it was quite a great vacation. Food was also great in the Peninsula De Funta Fuego’s beach club member’s lounge.

If you’ve been frequenting Tagaytay the past year, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen Summit Ridge Hotel. In fact, I don’t have to describe its location because I’m pretty sure that if you’ve been to Tagaytay even just once the past year, you’ve seen Summit Ridge.

For the many times that we’ve seen this hotel, we’ve been meaning to check-in there but never really had a chance to until last weekend. Summit Ridge is celebrating its first year anniversary and some travel bloggers were invited to check out the hotel (including this blogger).

So, last Saturday we checked-in at Summit Ridge. Since, the hotel has only been operational for one year, overall the hotel is still clean and well-maintained. The room given to my me and my family has a huge King Size Bed, a small balcony facing Taal Volcano, and all the standard hotel room features that you’d normally see in a not-so expensive hotel in Tagaytay.

Service was good although it could be better. To be honest, the hotel personnel in One Tagaytay are still more friendly and accomodating than the personnel in Summit Ridge. Anyway, that was just a minor hiccup.

As for food, Summit Ridge has a tie-up with Annie’s of Cravings. Thankfully, I’ve known Cravings’ great menu selection and for their branch in Summit Ridge, Annie’s offer several unique menu options. I highly recommend their adobo rich and deep-friend chicken with tamarind ketchup – puts new meaning to Max’s friend chicken. Another recommended option is the Lumpiang Hubad as well as the Almondigas – perfect for the cool weather in Tagaytay!

Other Amenities that Summit Ridge offers are well listed on their site. They also have a “mini” infinity pool located at the back of the hotel.

Overall, I would have to say that our Summit Ridge experience was a good one. It may not be the best hotel experience we’ve had in Tagaytay but still it was a good one.

Happy Anniversary to Summit Ridge Hotel in Tagaytay.

For the longest time, we’ve wanted to go to this place and finally last Sunday we made it to Antonio’s in Tagaytay City. Antonio’s is like a big mansion converted into a very nice restaurant with the homey ambiance.

I’m not really sure but it seems like this restaurant has been featured in so many Filipino movies before.

Anyway, the ambiance is not the primary reason why we visited this, of course we went there to eat! We were looking forward to a nice brunch actually as it was only around 11 in the morning.

So we ordered Spicy Sausage with garlic rice and double eggs (380+) for me,

Wifey had seafood pasta (Php 530),

and kid’s breakfast special (280+) for our daughter.

As you can see from the photos, servings were very small. For their prices, they could have at least made the garlic rice serving bigger.

I would rather not bash Antonio’s because I know it is a very famous place. But if you came from a two hour drive from Manila and hoping to fill up your hungry stomach in Antonio’s unfortunately you won’t get it from there.

It’s a good thing we ordered this, simply heavenly!

Before we checked-in at One Tagaytay Place, we had lunch at Buon Giorno Caffe and Bistro first. Buon Giorno is a quaint and cozy restaurant located in the Cliff House, Tagaytay City.

Aside from the great food, Buon Giorno also boasts of a nice interior which emits a homy and cozy ambiance. It’s a perfect place for couple’s actually especially if you will eat outside where a nice view of the Taal Lake is a great background to dine and wine.

Anyway, I ordered the Seafood Rissotto,

Wifey ordered the Spinach Raviolli

And the Cream of Asparagus soup.

One Tagaytay Place is a fairly new hotel owned and operated by Genesis Group. They managed Burnham Suites in Baguio which we visited two years ago. One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites reminds me of the hotel where my family stayed in Hong Kong. The hallways and the elevator are small and yet classy. The rooms were nicely done. Nothing fancy but the amenities were great.

Amenities offered by One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites include a pool located on the hotel’s penthouse area. The pool was small but the nice view definitely wins it. There are your usual amenities – function rooms, gym, spa, FREE WI-FI in every room and more.

What really impressed me about One Tagaytay Place are the friendly and accomodating staff – definitely world class.

How to get to One Tagaytay Place:

One Tagaytay Place Hotel in Tagaytay City, Philippines is located in Barrio Sungay. Just a 90-minute drive from Manila, our Tagaytay lodge is accessible via two major routes: South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Aguinaldo Highway.

If you’re traveling via the SLEX, take the Sta. Rosa Exit and turn right immediately after the expressway tollgates. This takes you to the Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road. Drive west, where you’ll pass by Paseo de Sta. Rosa, and travel all the way to the junction where the Tagaytay City Market is located. Turn left at the junction toward Picnic Grove and People’s Park in the Sky. Our Tagaytay lodge, found on the left side of the highway, is about 800 meters from this junction.

From the Aguinaldo Highway, drive straight toward Tagaytay Circle (Rotunda). Turn left toward Picnic Grove and People’s Park.
